Historic Parliament Roof Copper Maple Leaf Studs | Earrings
Historic Parliament Roof Copper Maple Leaf Studs | Earrings
Wear a piece of Canada's story with these distinct stud earrings, featuring authentic copper reclaimed from the roofs of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. This copper sheltered the nation's capital from 1918 to 1996 before being carefully preserved and repurposed.
Handcrafted by Under One Roof, a project of the Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OCAPDD), these earrings are more than just jewelry—they are a symbol of national heritage and community support. Each pair sold helps create meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with diverse abilities.
The focal point of each earring is the reclaimed copper inlay, which bears the natural "verdigris" green patina formed by decades of exposure to the Canadian elements. Because this weathering is natural and not a factory finish, the copper may contain slight irregularities that contribute to its authentic heritage value. The copper is set within a durable metal casing (available in Gold or Pewter tone) and secured with standard butterfly backings for comfortable daily wear.
Elegant enough for special occasions but rugged enough for everyday wear, these earrings offer a beautiful way to keep a piece of Canadian history close to you.
